Embarking on Change
About Me
As a veteran law enforcement officer and United States Marine my mission is to reduce recidivism throughout the United States. With 20 years of government service, I retired as a Lieutenant Detective, where I worked in various capacities including patrol, narcotics, CID, violent crimes, and as a jail detective. As a United States Marine Infantry Section Leader, I served in combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.
My academic credentials include an Associate degree in Law Enforcement, a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, and a Master's degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Organizational Management. I am also a graduate of the Tennessee POST Academy and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Program (Special Agent, National Security Investigations). My capstone thesis, and my time in law enforcement have focused on effective strategies for reducing recidivism.
Mission
My mission is to support government agencies that manage jails and prisons in their efforts to reduce recidivism. I aim to address the root causes of criminal behavior through targeted interventions and comprehensive support systems. My free program explains how educational and vocational training, behavioral health and substance abuse treatment, community engagement initiatives, and effective supervision and monitoring are the pillars of reducing recidivism.
By equipping offenders with valuable skills, providing necessary mental health support, fostering community involvement, and ensuring structured supervision, I strive to break the cycle of reoffending. I believe that addressing the problem holistically, rather than compounding it with punitive measures alone, is key to fostering positive change and successful reintegration into society. My goal is to create safer communities and better outcomes for individuals through empowerment and support.
